Creamy Algae Milkshake (Increases Energy, Presence & Clarity)
If you follow me on social media, you've probably seen me ravin about this recipe multiple times... It's so good! I love it when something's simple, quick, healthy, rich in nutrients and delicious.
I made this milkshake at my Energy & Exhaustion workshop series last Summer and people loved the simplicity of it, so I decided to share the recipe here on the blog so you can always come back to it.
This milkshake is 100% wholefood plant-based, no added sugars, and acts as a natural instant energy boost. Seriously, whenever you feel an energy dip/ sugar craving coming on, treat yourself with this shake and I swear it'll satisfy your tastebuds + give you that fuel to keep going.
Bananas are a true nutritional powerhouse. They're a great source of bioavailable glucose (your body's primary source of fuel), which will give you that sustained energy boost. They're rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that will aid neurotransmitter function — i.e. bananas help your body make neurotransmitters like serotonin, which produces feelings of calmness, positivity, confidence, and flexibility. Consuming bananas daily will help enhance these feelings as your body will be able to produce more of these feel-good chemicals!
Hemp seeds are a complete protein and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, making them great for hormonal, skin, hair, nail and joint health!
Like hemp seeds, spirulina is another top source of bioavailable protein, plus it's rich in minerals like chromium (helps balance blood sugar), iron, manganese, and vitamins A, K, and B12. Spirulina is also a great detoxifier for heavy metals, especially arsenic. (1)
Klamath Blue Green Algae are a type of wild algae that naturally flourish in the ecosystem of the Klamath Lake in the north west of the United States. They're one of the most highly absorbable, nutrient-dense foods on the planet, with all the health benefits of spirulina plus noticeably enhancing energy, mood, concentration, focus, and mental clarity. Vanilla bean calms the central nervous system, increasing feelings of relaxation and positivity. It's a key ingredient for this milkshake, balancing out the taste of the algae and making sipping on this shake a truly delightful experience.

Creamy Algae Milkshake (serves 1)
2 ripe bananas
2 heaping tbsp hemp seeds
1/2 tsp klamath lake algae (optional)
1/2 tsp spirulina
pinch of vanilla
Add all ingredients to your blender, add spring water until desired consistency (goal: milkshake consistency, i.e. not too thick!). Blend on high speeds for about 10 seconds & enjoy cold!
